Ann Arbor Symphony - Mozart G Major Concerto

Winner of an Avery Fisher Career Grant and the Sphinx Organization’s Medal of Excellence, flutist Demarre McGill appeared with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra as soloist aged just 15. Since then he’s gone on to establish himself at the forefront of his craft, here joining Music Director Earl Lee and the A2SO for Mozart’s dazzling flute concerto.

Andrea Casarrubios’s colorful and dynamically juxtaposed Herencia also features on the program, and the concert concludes with Mozart’s Symphony No. 39, the poised and propulsive first of his final trio of symphonies.

PCMS is proud to bring together these exceptional players for an evening of contemporary wind music that also features Valerie Coleman’s Rubispheres and a world premiere by Belize-born British composer Errollyn Wallen.

The award-winning Moab Music Festival Festival® makes music in concert with the landscape® and is noted for its distinctive programming, superb performances, and intimate concert experiences of chamber music old and new, jazz,and Latin music. MMF presents approximately 20 concerts during its 2 week festival. The star-studded roster of artists perform at a variety of venues from private area ranches, the charming Star Hall, private homes, and outdoor “venues” unlike any other Festival in the world. This includes a pristine Colorado River wilderness grotto reached by jet boat; a sunset low speed open-air boat; and numerous Music Hike’s to “hidden” surprise locations in and around Moab. Bookending the Festival are two multi-day Musical Raft Trips.
